On 17th May 1921, the beautiful flag of the United States Virgin Islands was adopted. It is a simplified version of the United States of America’s coat of arms.
The letters ‘V’ and ‘I’ stand for ‘Virgin Islands’ and the yellow eagle holds a sprig of laurel in one talon, symbolizing victory, and three blue arrows in the other representing the three main islands that make up the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The three main Virgin Islands are Saint Croix, Saint Thomas, and Saint John.
